Tea Leaf Symbolsand what each one means

Every shape below comes from the British, Irish, and Scottish tea reading tradition, with the meaning nineteenth century manuals gave it, the warning version readers were told not to soften, and how the meaning shifts between the rim and the bottom of the cup. Where the coffee tradition reads the same shape differently, each entry says so.
